Bhutan tour makes the best of our memories

Dear Sonam Younten,

Thank you for your your assistance in making our travel to Bhutan possible. I am very satisfied on how your office coordinated and arranged everything for us. Your prompt feedbacks in all our queries is much appreciated.

The following were our observations:

1. The vehicle was not 4WD. We used a Hyundai Tucson, and air-conditioning was seldom turned on despite the heat and dust that was getting through during the bumpy phase of our travel from Thimphu to Punakha, and back. Aside from this discomfort, we did not encounter any problems with the vehicle as it was in good running condition and well maintained.

2. It would have been better if food that was served had variation. We mostly ate chicken and less of beef and fruits. We understand that fish is scarce there and had to be imported from India, but we were expecting some beef and fruits in the menu, as well. Nevertheless, the food we tried were all good. We loved the chilli cheese and the vegetables which were always served during meals.

3. Our guide, Kinley and our driver, Dorji, were very friendly and accommodating with our whims and preferences. Though it was a bit difficult understanding their English enunciation, we managed to get our messages across.

Also, I think the incident with our driver, Dorji, and the Hotel Dewachen proprietress/owner should be looked into and clarified. We invited our driver and guide to have dinner with us in the hotel restaurant but the owner told our driver that it is not possible because the hotel was fully booked during that time. Our driver ended up in a heated argument with the hotel owner regarding this policy. The hotel owner respectfully apologized to us for the inconvenience and told us that our driver was questioning their policy because he was already drunk from taking beer and not in his right mind. It was confusing, however, for the owner to reason that our driver was just drunk because we were with him the entire time and he was perfectly sober.

All the tour guides and drivers were asked to take their meals in the restaurant kitchen that time and they were just offered rice and squash vegetable for their dinner.

As a totality, our Bhutan tour definitely makes the best of our travel memories. Though we had to really splurge on this travel, it was worth discovering the historical and cultural beauty of the Buddhist wonderland and feeling the aroma of a pristine environment was spectacular. I would definitely recommend your agency and this tour to my family and friends in the Philippines.

I hope my feedback will inspire others as well to consider Bhutan as their next travel destination.

I would also like to share two photos of this trip for everyone to see.

Kadin-Chhey,
Michelle Tadeo
