Our Bhutan trip much more than just a holiday

Dear Sangay,

We had a wonderful experience, much more than just a holiday. Great weather, beautiful scenery, peaceful holiday. We could feel the warmth and friendliness of the people as well as the happiness factor.

We were well looked after by Miss Dawa, our guide and Mr Wangdue, our driver. They managed to give us our request for night view of Thimphu Dzong at the risk of being chased off by the police! We also enjoyed dressing up in the kira. It was nice that both guide and driver were in local dress. It was amazing people waited patiently at hour long road blocks and caught up with friends. Excellent and safe driving by Mr Wangdue.

Miss Dawa was patient and helpful in our hikes. Tango monastery was especially festive as the monks prepared to welcome the new principal.

One of the most memorable trip for my wife and I

Hi Sonam,

I'll certainly get back to you shortly with more feedback. But in a nutshell, this was one of the most memorable trips my wife and I had and we would like to first convey our note of thanks (for now).

Separately, I'm thinking of putting together a series of photos that I've taken, together with quotes / reflections my wife and I will compose, into a travel photo-book entitled (for now): An Autumn in the Last Shangri-La. I'm just wondering how I could go about in getting Tourism Bhutan to perhaps underwrite the production of the book, in line with Visit Bhutan 2015 campaign and perhaps a minimal payment for original content.

I guess much depends on the quality of the photos / quotes... and I'm still sorting out the photos and putting a sample together

The trip was excellent, wish to spend more time in Bhutan

Hi Sangay,

The trip was excellent and too short! I wish I had more time to spend in Bhutan. Both guide and driver were excellent and I thank them for their hospitality and professionalism. The only thing I would say is to note to your customers that the hotel in Paro (I think? It was the 2nd night of our trip) is out in the middle of nowhere, so there's nowhere to walk around. One thing I enjoyed doing in Thimphu was walking around the city at night to check out where the locals hang out.

Lovely land of Bhutan and its happy people

Kuzuzangpo Sangay,

Hope this finds you well, here's the feedback and some pictures of our trip in Bhutan. I must appreciate you asking permission to share the photographs, you have our permission to use them for promoting DrukAsia and Bhutan Tourism.

1) Guide and Driver

Ms Dawa and Thinley were waiting at the Arrivals area at Paro Airport as advised, it is a pity that our flight got delayed by more than an hour at Kolkata due to reduced visibility conditions at Paro.

If there was any distinctive factor that made our trip to Bhutan a memorable one, it was Dawa and Thinley. Dzongs, Monasteries and picturesque locations shall continue to exist but it was these two individuals that made our trip very comfortable and enjoyable.

Bhutan is amazingly beautiful; breath-taking landscape

Hi Sonam,

Bhutan is amazingly beautiful. The guide, Dawa, is exceptional in her job and deserves utmost commendation (although she was not the guide assigned in the itinerary you provided). I really enjoyed the breath-taking landscape, imposing dzongs and tranquil monasteries. It was certainly a very different kind of holiday, in a good way.

Since you asked, the main shortcoming in this holiday was the food. Many dishes were bland and worse, repetitive. I believe improvements can be made because after visiting the market in Thimphu, I saw varieties of produce that were not included in the meals.

Also, the hotel, Gangtey Palace in Paro is actually quite beautiful in a rustic way, but perhaps, travellers should be warned that it is a very old wooden building, hence the lack of electricity

Travelling to the happiest place on earth

Dear Cipto, Firstly I would like to thank you for organising such a perfect surprise trip for my mother. The itinerary was customised to our needs in every way. We wanted more cultural exposure, and that was what we experienced and more than what we expected. Our guide Dawa and driver Dorji were cheerful and friendly from day one, they really made us feel at home. We knew that we would be very well taken care of. I was surprise to see the slogan behind the immigration card (Happiness is a place), it really made me become aware that indeed I am travelling to the happiest place on earth. To be honest, before the trip, I have very little knowledge of this little country perched on the Himalayans. The moment I touched down, I knew that I am in a completely different country which has an uniq
