Artist Statement

Educated in Thimphu, Bhutan, I followed high school graduation with an apprenticeship for local artists at the institute of language and cultural studies in Thimphu. In 1998 I jointed VAST Bhutan (voluntary artist’s studio of Thimphu) and became a fulltime volunteer and tutor. I have actively participated in domestic group art exhibitions and events since 1999 and internationally in Bangladesh, India, Japan, Malaysia, S.Korea , Singapore and the U.S.A In 2008 I and a group of young artists founded Datog art gallery in Thimphu to foster traditional artisans/craftsmen as well as contemporary art practitioners and art enthusiasts at various levels. As contemporary art is relatively new in Bhutan I am actively engaged in coordinating art exhibitions, art camps and art educational programs to raise the standards of art appreciation in our society.
